Coach McKay will be returning to Tamanawis to coach the varsity boys for the first time since 2019. Coach McKay's previously coached the Wildcats in 2013, 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2019. During that time the wildcats went 153-27 (48-0 league) and won 3 Fraser Valley Championships and went 9-3 at the 4A Provincials finishing 3rd in 2014, 2nd in 2016 and 3rd in 2018. Coach McKay spent 3 seasons coaching at KPU, 3 seasons at Douglas College and one season at SFU. During his time at SFU, they led the NCAA in scoring at 104 ppg and finished with a school record for wins. Coach McKay has also worked with Basketball BC as a coach and analyst as well with Basketball Canada programs. He has coached various University summer camps through out North America, as well as local club basketball. Coach McKay played collegiately in both the USA and Canada and holds a master's degree in coaching and administration and is a level 3 NCCP coach.
The 2023/2024 season will be Coach Dulay's 8th year coaching at Tamanawis. In the previous 7 years, he spent time as the JV Head Coach and Varsity Head Coach. He is currently in charge of player development for the boys program and the lead assistant for the varsity team. Outside of Tamanawis, Coach Dulay runs his own training academy with his wife Harleen Dulay. XV Training Academy was founded in 2018 and have helped many players reach the NCAA, USports and CCAA levels. Coach Dulay has also coached at the USports level at the University of the Fraser Valley under coach Adam Friesen. Coach Dulay had a successful playing career at Tamanawis and UFV. During his 5 years at Tamanawis he participated in 5 straight provincial championships, where he racked up numerous all stars and MVP's at the Fraser Valley and Provincial tournaments. At UFV, Coach Dulay entered the record books and finished top 10 all-time in 3-pointers made in USports history. In his senior season, he picked up a conference all-star while leading all of Canada in 3-pointers made and finishing top 10 in steals and assists.
Mr. Johnston is in his first year at Tamanawis as Principal. Coach Johnston has spent many years in the BC high school basketball community as a coach and on the executive of the high school boys association. Coach Johnston built a consistent Provincial contending program at Seaquam in the early 2000's before moving in to admin roles in Delta and Surrey.
Coach David returns to the JV Tamanawis coaching staff coming off a South Fraser championship and a JV finals appearance. Coach David is the lead assistant for Douglas College in the CCAA. He is also a Basketball BC provincial team coach and HPT / Center for Performance coach and local club coach. Coach David represented BC on the u15 and u17 provincial teams, played collegiately at Douglas college and professionally in the Philippines.
